Costuras Amargas is the story of Rose (a bakery chef), her mother Amalo (a wedding gown designer) and eleven year old Lucy (Rose’s daughter). Two days before getting married, Rose finds herself struggling with the wedding dress her mother did for her, only to discover that it wasn’t exactly an accident: her mother’s cruel intentions are revealed as Rose discovers she is having an affair with her fiance. Shock driven and heart broken, she runs to her bakery’s kitchen. There, as if in a ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ scene, Rose bakes her deadly revenge. But she will not be the only one watching her mother eating it, for as the story unfolds young Lucy is the spectator’s only witness, a reason to believe it wasn’t just a case of fantasy.
