Frederic obsessively plays with a puzzle on the day of his mother’s funeral. Cryptically, his family inquires about Frederic’s well-being at the dinner table, as we slowly discover that Fred has in fact been secluded in that house for almost the entirety of his life. The puzzles he makes, are the closest thing to the outside world he has. Fred’s story depicts the impossibility of breaking from our perceptibility in order to achieve what we truly desire. This film explores the belief that it is up to ourselves to create our present, our future, our reality. ‘The only way you can exit the Waiting Room, is if you call yourself out.’ |
