As an artist I am interested in creating images that command attention. I find the moving image to be the most accessible and emotional of these images. A narrative depicts a transformation. For my film I have boiled down this notion of a narrative, stripping away dialogue and reason, leaving only the emotional impact of change. The subject is a young woman who has a traumatic sexual experience that transforms her into an older woman. The experimental narrative has no fixed conclusion and the viewers apply their own meaning to the signifiers. The experimental nature of the narrative has allowed me to create grandiose cinematic imagery that would not have been possible on my limited budget had I followed a more conventional structure. |
