The film follows an artist who produces a body of paintings by dictating instructions over the phone to an 1-900 sex line worker who paints them. He assumes sexual power over the phone worker because he thinks he has a monopoly on creation, that he is the phallic conceptualizer of art and she is the mere recipient for his genius. In the tangle of phone lines identities become crossed and they both become unsure of who is the artist and who is the prostitute. When he realizes that filtering his art through the hand and mind of the phone sex worker and has given her the power to manipulate him he begins to loose his mind. |
