University education can be an overwhelming experience, and when filmmaker James Penco set out to chronicle the intellectual twists and turns of earning his own Bachelor’s degree, ‘B.A.’ is the documentary that emerged. Juxtaposing interview footage of his professors with his own notes, thoughts, and doodles (many doodles) from class, an intellectual self-portrait emerges of a student trying their best to absorb the great history of English literature… without going insane in the process. |
