Details:

A poetic documentary about the ceramic artist Steen Kepp’s relationship with clay. With the ‘Terre Mémoire’ project (‘Earth Memory’) at the internationally renowned pottery village La Borne in France, he carries out the last firing in his tunnel kiln ‘Ko No Yama’. Steen Kepp created the kiln according to the traditional Japanese firing technique Yakishime, focusing on the Nanban method.Evolving around the last nine-day firing, the film describes through flashbacks the two- year long process of preparation and design. The film includes extracts from Lao Tzu’s ‘Tao Te Ching’, read by Harald Leander. Its visual aesthetics, theme and the selected texts from Taoist philosophy all emphasize silence, in respect of nature’s grandeur and stillness.
