Glaciologist, Dr Alun Hubbard, has been sailing aboard his yacht Gambo in the high latitudes for over a decade. In 2010, Gambo and crew supported a number of scientific projects on the west coast of Greenland, looking at the impact of climate change in the region. The research team measured how far warm ocean currents have extended into some of the glacial fiord’s, and what impact this might have on glaciers that reach the ocean. GREENLAND - an expedition aboard sailing vessel Gambo, represents the passion we share for science and adventure. As usual, this voyage was done in typical Gambo style: big plans, limited funding, a mixed bunch of sailors, scientists and climbers, and a roguish spirit that somehow keeps it all afloat.
