Everything can change in a night, in a moment. Pon, Ramy, Ashor and Jin are mates, boys from Asian and Middle Eastern cultural backgrounds who grew up on the mean streets of Western Sydney. We’re not a gang, they say, we’re just friends. But cruising one rainy night, in someone’s dad’s car, searching for fun, nothing else to do, it all turns to tragedy. ‘NIGHT RIDE’ examines the chain-reaction of racism in contemporary Australia, and asks why do victims of racism find new targets for old sins? The story of four boys from culturally diverse backgrounds, socialised in Australia, each having experienced their fair share of racism, repeat the cycle by becoming the victimisers themselves. |
