A young man hikes into the wilderness of Joshua Tree National Park, navigates a labyrinth of sensually carved stone and jagged desert flora, and emerges in a remote valley. He makes camp and begins photographing the exquisite and surreal landscape, until glimpsing a woman camped nearby. The man gradually succumbs to the woman’s brazen sexuality, shedding his worldly anxieties and inhibitions, and unearthing desires that both terrify and transform him. Their erotic and richly metaphorical dance, choreographed in long takes with minimal dialogue, culminates in a startling climax. Using an innovative cinematic language, this film strives to restore the sacred aspect to sexuality, remind us of the forgotten power of femininity, and gaze deeply into the primal beauty of nature. |
