Always looking for another first descent, Kif Brown was a man of great curiosity and adventure. He was an avid backcountry skier and snowmobiler and an incredibly skilled pilot with a resume that included mastering the Idaho backcountry, acrobatic flying in a WWII warbird, flying DC3s in the Alaska Bush, flying skydivers in California and piloting gliders in the Tetons. But in June of 2013, Kif received unexpected and what many would consider, debilitating news. Kif was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer. Not willing to let it slow him down, he set out on the voyage of a lifetime. Single handedly, aboard his beloved vessel, ‘The Navigator,’ Kif explored the mountains, inlets, rapids and scenic waterfalls of British Columbia’s, Desolation Sound. Kif’s adventurous spirit took him on journeys across the world throughout his life, but this particular trip would be his most meaningful and quite possibly, his last. |
