BODY OF CHRIST revolves around closeted teen CHRIS RILEY. A role model in his small southern town, Chris balances his time between church, school, his single mother ROSE, and his high school sweetheart KATIE. However, this status quo existence is just Chris’ way of keeping everyone, but himself, happy. At night, Chris sneaks away to meet the real love of his life, his secret boyfriend MATT. The one person that Chris can be himself around, Matt is the only one who knows the real Chris. With his believer’s baptism approaching, Katie’s desire to take their relationship to an intimate level, and the pressure not to let his family or community down, Chris has to make the ultimate choice: Does he give up on his love for Matt to appease everyone else, or can he find a way to be himself and still honor his religion as well as his family? BODY OF CHRIST is a short film about family, love, the confusion that comes from being a young person, and the struggle to find a home in a world that can at times seem so empty. BODY OF CHRIST is an example of courage and selflessness, and a testament to human rights and tolerance. |
