A test subject is kept captive in a laboratory specializing in genetic engineering ran by Dr. Senner and Dr. Brynster. He, Subject 8901(aka Tom), is one of many who have had their memory wiped and no longer have any recollection of their former lives. But 8901 has been suffering black outs in which he has fragmented dreams of a persons life through their eyes; a beautiful wife, kids, a great home-but he questions if these are really dreams or perhaps memories of his past life. Holding on to these possible memories, 8901 eventually makes an escape during a test in hopes of finding out who he was before the doctors wiped his mind again. During his escape he is placed in company with two elderly people who turn out to be his parents who can’t recognize their changed son. Tom(8901) is soon led into confrontation with his former cell mate Harry who brings news of Tom’s incarceration in the lab and who he once was. But the truth isn’t always something we are prepared for.
