Follows a young woman over a three year period as she grapples with the decision to share her difficult story with the larger public. Leontine was only six years old when she lost her family to the Rwandan genocide and twenty when she felt ready to use her experiences to build understanding about what it means to be a refugee in Montreal. Leontine was part of the participatory oral history project, Life Stories of Montreal Residents, Displaced by War, Genocide and Human Rights Violations, that involved over four hundred participants over a six-year period. This twenty-three minute film explores questions regarding history, memory and the complexity of addressing genocide and human rights with high school students. |
