The story is all about Sommelier Barbara Verbeek. She has an extensive catering background and worked for years in the management of several famous restaurants in Haarlem, Bergen and Amsterdam. When she turned 24, she was encouraged by her father (Viticulturist Henk Verbeek) to follow the vinery academy. She really liked that education and after her graduation, she’d to apply for doing the first sommelier college from the Netherlands under supervision of Peter Klosse and Ton Kolsteeg. After succeeding her graduation of the wine and food education, Barbara has worked a couple of years for ‘Verbeek Wijnimport’, her father’s vinery company. In all these years she sold wines, she gave wine tastings, courses and trainings for several companies and individuals, and accompanied her father several times a year at various wine tours. Since January 2007, Barbara Verbeek has an entrepreneurial vinery company. On the moment she give some business presentations for Maison de la France; doing public relations for French wines. She also writes isues on the internet and for glossies, like the magazine Smaakwereld, etc. Barbara also teaches as guest lecturer on the New Business school Amsterdam, and besides this all she also organizes educational wine tours for young students from ROC Netherlands and for holdings, like Holland Combinatie (Telegraaf Media Group). Barbara Verbeek works for years with lots of fun with her companion Barend Havenaar from the Champagnebar, she’s to book for her services in wine tastings, as your personal sommelier, on after parties and as experienced expert in vinery. |
