For one week each year, a collection of international enthusiasts gather in the Nepali jungle to play what is perhaps the biggest game on earth - Elephant Polo.Though the game is not the fastest, and the welfare of the elephants comes first, it is surprisingly competitive and certainly impressive as 10 foot polo sticks are wielded by players who, often in vein, try and propel the ball towards the goal posts. With the backdrop of the jungle and handful of small villages, the short film has an old world almost fantasy feel as the elephant take center stage, and the gin and tonic sipping competitors hold on for the ride. |
