Based on the short story by Clayton Davis, Panopticonvict is a psychological narrative exploring the relationship between human psyche and television commercials. Tim Gaine, mid-20s, arrives at a marketing research firm one day after being invited to participate in test screenings of commercials in exchange for $50. He’s led into The Viewing Room: a large empty room with a huge LCD screen. The lights dim down as Tim watches commercial after commercial, providing feedback after each one. At the end of the day, the lights come up and Tim makes his way towards the exit. Except there’s one problem: The exit is gone. The room has been sealed off, trapping Tim inside. |
