In 1946 while living in New York, Jeanne Renaud created and choreographed her piece ‘Deformity’. It was inspired by the conflicting emotions of the grandeur, beauty and richness of the city in contrast with the vulgar injustice of ever present poverty and street deaths of the homeless. It was by impulsive and her decisiveness sentiment that led to the creation of ‘deformity’. Now, more than sixty years later, faced with the death of her daughter, revives in her the fragility of life. Freely inspired by ‘deformity’ and the aria Scherza Infida by Handel, majestically interpreted by dancer Louise Bedard, brings the strength of life to her choreography ‘Morte in Braccio’. |
