Details:

Nearly 25 years after his death, a cache handwritten scores in the hand of legendary jazz arranger and composer Gil Evans are uncovered in his New York apartment. The material, which was once thought to be lost, represents his entire career from his early arrangements for the Claude Thornhill Orchestra to his collaborations with Miles Davis and beyond. The resulting collaboration between New York music producer Ryan Truesdell and his long-time friend Dave Rivello at the Eastman School of Music breathes new life into the music as it was originally meant to be heard. This documentary follows the collaboration from the rehearsal room to the stage of one of Europe’s biggest jazz festivals where Gil himself once held residence with his own band.
