A fresh batch of American Doughboys arrives at the deadlocked Western Front. On their first night in the front line trenches Steady, Hawkes and four other new recruits are led by the seasoned Sgt Bledsoe on a night patrol through No-Man’s Land. In the darkness, Father, a pious and jittery boy, sees a dead body turn and look at him. His scream gives away their position and everything goes to hell. By the time Steady and the boys are captured by German soldiers, they are relieved to see their enemy. |
