‘Swargadwar’ is a holy cremation ground for Hindus. It is at the beach of Puri in the state of Odisha (in Eastern India), and the place is one of the prime attractions for tourists. It is believed that a person cremated at ‘Swargadwar’ attains salvation and reaches heaven. ‘Swargadwar’ means gateway to heaven. This film, through its images, portrays a symbolic journey from life to death, dreams to desires. The entire cycle of physical and psychological existence has been juxtaposed as a rotating wheel which follows the same monotonous cycle with a fixed axis. The film is shown from the point of view of a dead person whose body is burning on the funeral woods. |
