‘Nanny Cam: Xenophobia in the Motherland’ was filmed entirely by Cindy Nashwa, the nanny/domestic worker of director Roger Horn and documents the frustration and heartache of those living in the townships on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa in the days following the May 2008 xenophobic attacks that left 62 dead and displaced over 100,000. Cindy manages to keep a smile on her face at work in spite of the fact that she is suffering due to separation from her youngest child that was sent by bus to live with her mother across the country in the Eastern Cape out of fear for her safety. |
