Synan simply wants a mother’s love and the opportunity to attend school like the other children. Her father was too poor to support her, so she decided to leave her family and find her own way. Now in her second year of University, Synan reminisces about her tragic yet optimistic struggles to conquer such basic human rights. Her pain, sincere love, and spiritual insights are profound and universal. By projecting her microcosmic narrative in the bigger picture, we realize that Synan is just on ‘Khmer girl’ in an ocean of similar struggling youths. |
