Alexander and his biological brother Georgie, work at a suburban street stall selling googly-eyed pinecones. Alexander dreams of one day answering the call of destiny, and of breaking the monotony of pinecones. Of course, all this changes when the two men are visited by the owners of a nearby fruit shop. Dissatisfied with the lack of business, the three owners harass and bully their competitors. The confrontation escalates until Alexander unexpectedly finds himself alone on the mysterious planet Ascot Vale. Following a conversation with a giant talking cactus, our hero discovers he must find the courage to rescue the now kidnapped and tortured Georgie from the evil fruit-men who reign over the planet. To do this, Alexander must become ‘the man of destiny’ and fulfill the ancient prophecy.
