Seventeen year old Jack Demski (Adam McCort) is desperate to come up with the money to fix his 1980 Dodge Dart, and for a life-saving operation for his dying dog Keesha. Jack lives with his parents who can’t help Jack pay for his dog’s operation or the repairs for his car. Jack decides to make a short mockumentary film about his cousin Albin Kowalski (David McCort), a hockey player on the high school hockey team who desperately wants to make it in the NHL but who has no chance, which Jack is very aware of. Jack plans to submit the film at his cousin’s expense to the upcoming Manitoba Ukrainian amateur film festival which is a very popular event among the Ukrainian community and sure to bring shame upon his cousin Albin, so Jack can win the prize money to save his dog and get his car back on the road. The only problem is that Jack knows just as little about filmmaking as Albin does about being a great hockey player.
