Sales of J.P. Rothbone’s Bug-B-Gone Bug Zappers are falling sharply, and J.P. has discovered the reason. The Boneheads are teaching people to build bat houses where bats can roost. Every evening at sunset, Indiana bats leave these houses and their caves to flutter through the night sky vacuuming up hundreds of thousands of mosquitoes. J.P. is furious and schemes to use his Blusterous Bat Blaster Beam to disrupt the bats during their daytime rest. Meanwhile back at H.O.P.E. headquarters, Marrow briefs the Boneheads on the incredible adaptations of bats, the amazing list of products that bats bring to humans, and dispels common misconceptions and myths about bats. Through stunning photography and video of live bats, kids get an up-close look at the amazing anatomy of these winged mammals including ears, eyes, noses, and wings. With Bonehead in the lead, the original animated characters devise their own ‘bat plans’ to thwart J.P.’s evil bat-blasting scheme. An up-to-the-minute ‘Newsflash’ focuses on the swiftly spreading white nose syndrome and how bat rescue centers are searching for cures and rescuing bats in need. Bonehead delivers an encouraging ‘You Have the Power’ message to kids with practical suggestions on what they can do to help bats survive and to teach others the vital role bats play in ecosystems. It also highlights bats’ incredible ability to echolocate. |
