When he never received her letter, Donald Morley took it for granted that Mary Leonard did not love him and left his old home. Some years later he is ordained a priest and celebrates his first Mass in a convent chapel where Mary is a nun. After the service and alone before the altar, they meet. Mary explains the circumstances of the misunderstanding, but they love each other well enough to put their worldly emotions aside in a strongly dramatic scene and hold faithful to the vows which their consciences tell them cannot be violated and then they part, for eternity. |
