Heartland Films Inc. presents a tribute to Kansas City’s unique jazz and blues history with this 60 minute documentary entitled Kansas City Jazz & Blues; Past, Present & Future. The film is produced and directed by the award winning documentary filmmaker Sue Vicory. The great Jay Hootie McShann, Big Joe Turner, Charlie Yardbird Park and Mary Lou Williams are profiled as the historic legacy. Karrin Allyson, Bobby Watson and Mark Pender are all interviewed for their contemporary contributions to Kansas City jazz. The historic Mutual Musicians Foundation, Gem theater and Blue room at 18th and Vine are venues where history is made. International Blues Competition winners Trampled Under Foot share the screen with the next generation of Kansas City jazz and blues greats! |
