In its more direct form, photography can fundamentally be viewed as an instrument of documentation. It is a visual tool that can facilitate the extension of expression by yielding a static moment in time as art. However, trends in contemporary photography seem to derail from this traditional definition, one that yearns for change and artistic evolution. Christopher Bye’s work embraces the essential values of photography whilst exploring the contemporary environment. Bye believes that with photography, change is inherent in documentation. As humans change their physical environs, they change the physical and conceptual landscape for photography. |
