Jonathan’s mother left him at one week old to go to Paris for Fashion Week, his parents divorced promptly after her return and growing up on the Upper East Side of New York City was trying, to say the least. Jonathan was admitted to a psychiatric hospital at 13 and again at 16 for depression and hearing voices. The film picks up with Jonathan in his early twenties, living in his step grandmother’s apartment, full of Costa Rican trinkets and Catholic iconography, in Queens, NY, with his girlfriend, Ellen and best friend, Travis. We follow his every move for three days and come to realize that through all of his trials Jonathan has come to be grateful for the small things in life. Such as, the love of his life Ellen, his friends, his home, and his passion for the theater. |
