Outlier is a film about solitude. The filmmaker, a native of Ireland, recently moved to NYC and is finding life there particularly difficult. She begins to query the decisions that have lead her to where she is today, and contemplates how different her life could have been had she chosen differently. Ultimately, she wonders, how much of her personal life is she sacrificing for professional gain? In an attempt to find some meaningful answers, she leaves the City in favor of a quaint town on the Jersey Shore called Spring Lake. There, by the sea, she meets members of the community who generously share their most intimate stories and, in doing so, offer her courage and strength to continue moving forward. |
