Film-noir horror. Great suspense. The original “love-hate” image. A masterpiece. 9/10
I loved the lighting. The set designs were pretty unique if I remember correctly….
The stupidity of the characters in this movie, made me scream at my screen. Except for John and the lady who took him in, they all made me palm-face. I couldn’t get into this movie completely. The acting unfortunately, was way overdone for me. Which is weird, because I love Shelley Winters and Robert Mitchum. But their acting here…not their best. The rest of the cast wasn’t any better, except for little John. The score was a bit loud at times. And some scenes needed to stay on the cutting board. But the scene that REALLY did for me, was the look on Robert’s face, in Ma’s house. It was so cartoonish, that even my son went rolling on the floor, laughing his butt off. I threw my hands in the air, shocked at Robert’s silly face. And the screaming like a banshee, made it worse. I don’t know. The storyline is good, but I couldn’t get over the acting. Hmm…
