Somewhere along the border with Mexico, two lifelong friends - prospectors - use moth eaten maps and passed down legends in a lifelong search to find a ghost ship rumored to have been buried in the desert sand over millennia as the seafloor dried up. Today, Mexican drug lords operate here, using a fleet of children in ultra light airplanes, flying in a new type of treasure - heroin - modern gold dust. These two friends must decide between pursuing their dreams of treasure, suddenly so close, and what they know is right. To save themselves, or risk their lives to save a young girl captive to the drug lord. GOLD DUST is a wild adventure of treasure and ghosts, mirages and orphans, shattered dreams and lost loves. It blends the stark deadly beauty of the desert with a villain so disarmingly dangerous he becomes terrifyingly elegant. Classical music. Thundering opera. Rattlesnakes and precious gems. Mansions and gold mines. Friendship and despair. Hope. Death. And Love. Treasure beyond imagination always vanishes in the desert wind.

Not a bad movie and I thought it was pretty funny. It’s sort of an off-beat comedy about 2 friends on a treasure hunting mission when they accidentally get mixed in with a major drug lord and then their life gets totally flipped upside down. It’s basically like a cat and mouse game with funny mishaps and characters that make it so much more fun to watch. I don’t recall seeing any of the actors in anything else before this, but they were all fairly good. The actor David Wall, that plays one of the main characters named Fink, reminds me so freaking much of Owen Wilson. They don’t look exactly alike, but they favor enough in looks and demeanor that if someone told me, ‘yeah, that’s because they’re real life brothers.’…then I’d probably totally believe them. I couldn’t stop thinking about that throughout the movie or how that role would have been great for Wilson. I don’t know what the PG rating on this film is and in no way am i qualified to rate this movie per the MPAA, but regardless I say that I consider this a family friendly adventure/comedy and even though there is some violence, the level of violence is NOTHING nor anywhere near even half the violence seen in your kids favorite adventure or superhero movies so I’m confident in saying this is an okay watch for the whole family. I love the lil quirky, odd and off-beat characters like those that made up this movie. They made it a fun watch.
