Those merry madcaps of mayhem, Biffle & Shooster, in the movie that sets comedy back 75 years—to when it was, y’know, actually funny. The less-than-legendary vaudeville team made 20 comedy shorts between 1933 and 1938; this was their final one. The boys get jobs in an art gallery on the very day that a priceless painting is delivered. You can pretty much imagine how this will play out. Shot in glorious B&W and 1.33:1, IT’S A FRAME-UP! is an authentic-as-possible recreation of the glory days of Hollywood comedy teams, replete with snappy dialogue, grievous puns, plenty of slapstick and even impressions—plus a plot twist or two. Yes, boys and girls, they CAN make ‘em like they used to…and we’re just the idiots to do it! |
