Thomas Errigo is a father awaiting the homecoming of his wife, Sarah. She has just been released from rehab however does not come home and is nowhere to be found. Thomas must meanwhile tell his daughter, Jane that she’ll be home any minute though he is unsure himself. When he throws a party the next day for her arrival, his close friend, Macy, suspects she is missing. When she confronts him about the situation she agrees to go search for her while he tucks Jane into bed and prepares for the worst. After she calls with news of her overdosing, Thomas begins to weave a fairy tale about Sarah as a pirate to explain to Jane that mommy won’t be coming back home. By the time Macy arrives Sarah is dead and Thomas must call the cops. As he finishes the tale about red and blue lights, police lights flood the room thus making the story real for Jane as Thomas deals with the intensity of the truth.
