‘La faccia della Terra’(The face of the Earth) is a physical and interior journey through the stories juxtaposed to the writing and making of his latest album called ‘Da solo’. An on-the-road film, from Italy passing through Calexico’s recording studio in Tucson, discovering disappeared seasons, intangible instruments, imaginary and daily characters, life stories evoking charm and pages which become flesh-and-bone songs, fortuitous and fatal encounters, mirrored loneliness, American rodeo Side Shows. Transforming what was initially supposed to be a simple backstage footage, the director blends the raw material beneath the album crossing different languages like, reading, video poetry and music clip. This weird ‘film-story’, is a bold attempt to subvert the classic ‘behind the scenes’ genre…broadcast on TV motels in the meantime. |
