I’m not an anime fan, but this show is amazingly good. Made in the golden age of cyberpunk, it has pretty much everything that makes for great noir science-fiction, and also enough skimpy outfits and space battles to satisfy even the most juvenile tastes. The soundtrack especially is fantastic, and a real departure from most anime. The creator described it thus: “This is not a kind of Space-Opera. It is a sort of Space-Jazz.” It’s easy to see why this show often gets credited as the greatest anime series of all time!
