In a cinematographic way, this movie is better than the original. But as far as I am concerned, the original is the best, because of childhood memories. This movie was not as bad as I anticipated, but there was nothing distinctive about it. It is watchable, no more. And it was not faithful to the book. The character of the mother, made it hard for me to connect to the movie. Her behavior was too un-motherly to me. I would open a serious can of ninja mode, whoop ass on ANYBODY who threatens my kids. Albeit a husband or a partner, I do not care. Your kids should ALWAYS come before ANY man or woman. THAT woman was a weakling, who got on my nerve. I cannot stand weak female characters. Women are stronger than men in many ways. Different strengths. And I wish Hollywood would understand that already, FFS. And kids, of course. Chloe Grace Moretz as Chelsea was the my pet peeve. Ya know, kids in horror movies and all. In all, barely good enough for a one-time watch, no more. Ryan Reynolds and his body were a nice welcomed eye-candy. The guy looked fine. Lol.
