After 18 seasons, this is a well-oiled machine with ever more blatant corporate sponsorships each season. Still the best technical cooking shows on television because these aren’t amateurs or hobbyists. Adults competing against talented adults, not kids or duds.
I would say it’s the last of its kind just due to the relatively low-level drama. It’s not Chef’s Table auteur focusing on one person, Bourdain’s gonzo travels, Fieri’s dad jokes, or the whimsical Iron Chefs or the Worst Cooks curveball.
