I do enjoy the film noir/neo noir crime thriller style; I think that was the intent here. They did well with the bright-colored wardrobe and sets to bring to life what was usually seen in black-n-white in that type of film or films of that period. I also applaud the use of shadows, split screens, scene transitions, and the rising crescendo of the music to get your heart racing, as a thriller is meant to do.
But they peaked too early (episode 4) and couldn’t maintain the thrall for the remaining 3 episodes. It became more of a soap opera than a crime drama or thriller.
Having said that, Sophie Okonedo and Judy Davis almost took over the show with Sharon Stone killing it despite Sarah Paulson’s great work…look out for the couple of scenes with these two…it’s all in the eyes!
Unfortunately, for me, a season 2 would be more of a meh than a bring it on!.
