It has its flaws, for certain. They push too hard to stuff too much into their allotted time. They get contrived with some of their settings. It took three episodes before they seemed to decide the show’s basic feel.
That said, it contains a lot of my favorite geek/nerd humor. There are a lot of references to Trek and other SciFi, and they show flashes of amusing self-awareness. They even subvert the “crew as family” trope that Star Trek often leans on.
I like it.
