Tornados are so fickle too. One took the barn of a farmer and the farmer had straw in the old wooden barn. The tornado sucked up the straw and it also took the roof off of his house and drove the straw into the sheetrock like nails. My great-uncle was part of the seek and rescue team, a family of 5 lived across the highway from the farmer who lost his barn and as the father reached the storm cellar door, the tornado swept up his wife and 3 kids. He hung onto the door with all his might and somehow, he survived. My great-uncle found the baby almost a mile from the house. An image of that baby decapitated body was something he relieved the remainder of his life. My dad’s brother said he would never move back to Oklahoma because of the tornados (he lived in California), I told him at least you can run in the opposite direction of a tornado, but you can’t outrun an earthquake.
Oh Piglet your comment made me tear up. That poor family and your great-uncle; I can’t imagine how I’d cope with living through something like that. :’(
