While I appreciate the sentiment, what does justice look like in this case, and how do you possibly prove the child would not have been harmed?

It’s way past time that we stopped enslaving and caging animals for our pleasure and entertainment. We claim to be a society that abhors animal cruelty, yet torture like this still persists. We delude ourselves that modern zoos with larger spaces and simulated habitats are less horrible, but it’s like comparing state prisons to federal ones and given that the inmates are innocent of any crime, it’s no less than an atrocity.
