The alien superhero Marvelous Man has kept the earth at peace for 40 years. But when a devastating secret and its tragic consequences throws our world into chaos, it's up to Marvelous Man's bitter, violent lieutenant Knight Hawk and idealistic do-gooder The Speed to stop nuclear war. An art house satire of the superhero genre, Guardians of Justice mixes live action with traditional animation, claymation, cut out paper animation, and 8-bit video game footage in a kaleidoscope of pop art insanity.

This is so weird. It’s a mashup of so many things. I can’t decide if it’s brilliant or terrible.

citylion 5 points 3 years ago.

This reminds me of early Troma mixed with so much other stuff. Weird and definite camp, verdict is still out whether good or not…

irdulili 3 points 3 years ago. 3/5 stars.

Yes. Very Troma but with better video cameras. lol

citylion 1 points 2 years ago.

Sure but considering the span of time not much of an improvement relative to that.

TheTruth 6 points 3 years ago.

So they canceled Jupiter’s legacy and made this , disappointing.

Feels like a few hundred students worked on some fan fiction without guidance or collaboration. Graphic style changing every 5 seconds. Really hard to watch

…a kaleidoscope of pop art insanity.
It’s all in the description above.

Brewmaster 3 points 3 years ago*.

You have to go into it knowing what it is, it’s made to make fun of all the super hero stuff out there and personally I like the mixed media it sets it apart.

Fmghost 4 points 3 years ago.

I doubt I’ll watch anymore after watching first episode

greyfur 0 points 3 years ago.

I have not watched the first episode yet, will most like give it a shot, most of the time I like stuff like this, but from the description, I thought to myself, ‘WTF did they do to this’?

Been waiting for some comments, see what others thought. Having a lot of reservations at this point, but will give it a go,just to see if the story line might make it worth the time….

Personally, I’ve seem everything DC / Marvel has come out with and this ridiculous dark parody was fantastic. If you like weird, brutal, dark shows you will like this. It is like the boys mixed with Injustice League on LSD.

2 things: 1. This is the guy that got in all that trouble for making that R rated unauthorized Power Rangers movie back in 2015. So the story goes, he wanted to make a Batman movie but (obviously) couldn’t get permission to do so. Instead, he made this which is obviously Michael Keaton’s Birdman put in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns universe trying to solve a mystery like Rorschach in Alan Moore’s Watchmen. And YES he really skirted a thin line between “fair use/parody” and outright plagiarism (the Sepia Spider comes immediately to mind). Imagine having Disney come after you? You’d get in less trouble for murder, surely.

  1. The new season of The Boys drops Friday so, yay!
BigD 2 points 3 years ago.

I think it starts June 3rd. The boys.

irdulili 2 points 3 years ago. 3/5 stars.

Yeah. My bad. The cartoon spinoff starts this Friday.

Had me thinking of “Wizards” and some other old animations. I liked it, all said and done. Strange tale as well..

aus1r1s 2 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

I like it - it is different. Think “Sin City”, with the pacing of “Robot Chicken”. Kind of has a noir-ish, yet 80’s vibe. Works for me!

Xsile 1 points 3 years ago.

and a parody of justice league.

jbjuk 2 points 3 years ago.

lol a witty live-action animated series of parodied super hero’s/movies all rolled up into one.

Cap'n Kirk 1 points 3 years ago*. 5/5 stars.

Brilliant! Reminds me of the old Far Cry Blood Dragon video game.
