Sophie: A Murder in West Cork examines one of Ireland's most famous murder cases, the death of French producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier in the town of Schull, West Cork in 1996. The brutal murder, which shocked the country, triggered one of the biggest murder investigations Ireland had ever seen and became a national obsession. The documentary will chart the circumstances of her death, unravelling the extraordinary story from its beginning, 24 years ago to the present day. With exclusive access to Sophie Toscan du Plantier's family, the series will bring together, for the first time, the views of her family with Ian Bailey, the man at the centre of the investigation. |

It is a very interest true-crime history. Since none of the French speaking people were actually involved in the crime, I simply skipped forward past their parts. Doing that probably made the show more interesting as it stuck to the point and bypassed the meaningless opinions.
The French parts are essential, actually, but I understand your astute ability to discern what you feel is most vital. 🙂
Essential if you really care who the woman was as a person, I don’t. My interest is strictly in the crime story.
OK. Fair enough.
I found this true life murder documentary very engaging, heartbreaking and baffling. There is no justice in this world, especially in regards to murder. Although I firmly believe Ian Bailey should be extradited to France, it will never bring Sophie back, and only that would be true justice. My heart breaks for her family. Although Ian is an odd person, his actions, and the evidence point to him. Murderers often relish the spotlight, they are without out empathy and are pure sociopathic narsicists. This is definitely a watchable and interesting documentary, and her story woven throughout is very relevant to the murder.
Shocking that despite so much evidence, all his confessions etc. he is still not arrested and charged with murder. I’m certain he’s the killer.
