The Beatles: Get Back takes audiences back in time to the band's intimate recording sessions during a pivotal moment in music history. The documentary showcases the warmth, camaraderie and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome, compiled from over 60 hours of unseen footage shot in January 1969 (by Michael Lindsay-Hogg) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored.Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to these private film archives. The Beatles: Get Back is the story of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they plan their first live show in over two years, capturing the writing and rehearsing of 14 new songs, originally intended for release on an accompanying live album. The documentary features – for the first time in its entirety – The Beatles' last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London's Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band's final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be. |

HISTORY IN THE MAKING.. Peter Jackson has done an amazing job compiling these programmes. Seeing the Beatles at work and creating their last 2 iconic albums from scratch.. it’s like being in the room with them, hearing all their conversations and laughs. My only caveat would be, you kinda have to like the Beatles A LOT and be REALLY interested to spend this many hours watching as the new songs gradually emerge. If you’re not a big fan this might just be boring and overload; certainly this isn’t an ideal introduction to the band for newbies, this is more like the final chapter so best start at the beginning if you don’t already know them well. Myself i’m enjoying this a lot, it’s great to spend time with my childhood heroes even when it is so patchy and grumpy at times. There was still a lot of heart in that room! Well done PJ, loving it so far!! :))x
Yes I agree re length for newbies - but I’m a huge fan, so happy to sit through 20 hours of this any day, fabulous.
I like the Beatles A LOT and am REALLY interested but found it hard going at times. Have had to stop episodes after about an hours viewing and take a break. Overall a really interesting insight for a serious fan, I just needed to do it in smaller chunks.
I was in grade school during the 1960’s and just happened to be home sick on a Sunday night. Yup, I got to see The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. How lucky was I? Being a child of the 1960’s for me was incredible! The bands I grew up listening to! I do think the 1960’s was the most important decade ever! So many things happening, especially here in America.
Sooooooooo dang amazing! This new edit really rewrites history. The lads were not only brilliant creative musicians, but contrary to legend, they were also true friends who came alive when they made each other laugh. Thank you Mr. Jackson for this gift to every Beatles fan.
Outstanding !!!
it feels like a setup
to have watched this this on any channel seems like it’d be cool. i know we all have them this is just easier
just saying… it has alot going on for what most would say, stuff.
Time well spent. I am a Beatles fan and had no problem with the length of these episodes. Loved every minute of it. I am just sorry it took 53 years to see it. I was 10 when this was filmed.
So good.
