Irma Vep revolves around Mira, an American movie star disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, who comes to France to star as Irma Vep in a remake of the French silent film classic, "Les Vampires." Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge. Irma Vep reveals to us the uncertain ground that lies at the border of fiction and reality, artifice and authenticity, art and life.

Irma Vep is a 90’s cult classic. Will be interesting to see how they serialized it.

Ep 1 was pretty bad, boring. More of a catty drama, no comedy. Seems to be mostly a French production. I had trouble making it all the way to the end, waiting for something to happen that never did.
Someone post if it gets better, I’ll not waste any more time on it if not.

I thought it was good & some sexy scenes. Will keep watching see how it goes.

I recommend watching the orignal film on which this is based before taking this on. It is hard to know what Assayas is trying to say here. It appears to both mock and revere the cinematic process at the same time. The humor is subtle while the satirization of Hollywood is less so. The risk that it will be no more than an arthouse drama for cinephiles is real, but I’ll risk it to see where it ends up.
