Me too! Watched them back to back and I can’t say anything I’ve learned about any of the characters except one’s a cheat. And the bully..I just want to slap him! lol
I was really looking forward to this. Plots and subplots at the expense of action and to me the characters are not compelling enough for that and so far very slow - agree with everyone. Bummer.
This show is SO SLOW - 3 episodes in and it is 95% character development fluff with nothing
Boring, total snoozefest, dislikable characters, unrelated storylines. Not about aliens but boring people and kids. Show should be called “Evasion”

It’s called “War of the Worlds.” I haven’t had time to get into it yet, but it recently got renewed for a third season.
In context, every alien invasion film or series is kind of based on the original story; War of the Worlds. But, yes, I really enjoyed season one of War of the Worlds. Gabriel Byrne is one of my favorite actors. And I was super excited to see season two, but when it aired, it fell far short of the story and writing in season one, and I later wasn’t surprised to learn season two had a lower viewership. The show runners kind of did the same thing Westworld’s did; and went way off the rails with what they thought was a great idea but wasn’t. I must say, and this is just MHO, Invasion, looks to be a better written series. Either way, I am looking forward to finding out.
All y’all should watch “Childhood’s end” ifn you haven’t already - it’s not like war of the worlds at all…

My favorite Clarke book. I read this in junior high and my mind was blown.
My favourite Arthur C. Clarke book too - I doubt the creators of Invasion have read it, or anything from the sci-fi canon for that matter - either that or they have total creative amnesia, or both.
They cancelled it mid season, so guess that didn’t go well.

Holy crap, holy crap! I stopped watching the first episode a little bit before halfway because it was a little slow, I picked it back up because I didn’t have anything else to watch today and oh my god this is one of my favorite shows on TV right now. This is an edge of your seat, can’t wait till the next episode kind of series. I wish this was like a lot of the other shows that dropped the entire season off all at once, because I would definitely be binging this. Make sure you give this show a chance. If you are like me and found it a little slow in the beginning.. trust me, keep watching
The problem with this show is the title. If they would have called it “The struggle through lifes drama” or something like that, it wouldn’t have attracted the wrong crowd and people like myself wouldn’t have gotten disappointed.
The most ridiculous episode yet , OMG those kids are annoying, nonsensical , melodramtic bollox !!! I cant believe I’ve lasted this long
I want to like this show, but the acting is so amateurish, unnecessarily emotional, and wooden. The plot has potential but the terrible acting is ruining any chance the show had to go anywhere.

I, for one, like this new drama so far and yes, it can be slow at times. But we need the back story so we can see how they were before the arrival. Now we will see how they take this new journey and see who and who won’t survive. Why did some children have bloody noses and some didn’t? Are they “the chosen ones” by the aliens and what is their purpose for choosing certain humans? Doesn’t sound good in my opinion.
Episode 2 has 1 cool scene in it. Literally everything else is really slow and just not remarkable in any way.

Starting off very slow. I thought there would be more action instead of the show spending most of the time on the characters. I’m hoping the action picks up. 3/5 stars from me so far.

This show is like watching a boring SOAP Opera show from the 90’s. Where is the sci-fi? Did they forget about the aliens?
This had so much potential but it’s probably the most boring and least imaginative sci-fi show I have ever watched. If you don’t have the budget to create alien creatures, don’t bother making this kind of a show. Half of the season we couldn’t even see these aliens, and when we finally could they look like something a 5 year old drew. Don’t even get me started on totally irrelevant, boring personal dramas. If I want drama I won’t look for it in “sci-fi” TV shows!

Don’t waste your precious time
Is anyone else still watching this? Maybe I have this series confused with another one, but didn’t the 1st Season have a mom who had a cheating husband with 2 children? She was a Doctor of some type. Either I’m confused, or her storyline disappeared from the series. Can someone enlighten me?

First 3 episodes, as everyone else has noted, has little action. It does, tho, keep you coming back for more due to an air of growing menace and dread that is ever present without being ladled on thick. Stick with it, tho, because it becomes extremely gripping and tense, in no small part due to the viewer making substantial investment in the characters during those ‘slow’ early episodes.
An original take on a familiar enough tale and one that is executed well, with pretty good special effects and a solid cast. I do acknowledge that despite my own enjoyment of it, this show isn’t for everyone, but if you can stick with it you should find yourself rewarded.
A solid 4/5.

I guess some people liked it because….”Apple TV+ announced earlier today that Invasion, which had two great seasons up until now, will be returning for a third season.” I don’t think I bothered to watch because of the bad reviews here on pw. Might watch an episode of season 1.

just binged the first season.. very slow, enev the action is sub-par..with some fast forward its not bad.. a couple episodes could have been skipped without noticing.. lol ..almost feels like a korean production .. Will binge the rest this evening.. there might be an actual story in this somewhere..

I’m certain that I will not be involved in any aspect of tv show or movie-making in this lifetime. I don’t have to ever write a script or come up with an original concept or know the ins and outs of films. All I know is that for me this show has too much drama, moves too slowly and doesn’t show enough of aliens to keep my interest.
