The Vow follows a range of people who joined the self-improvement group, NXIVM. The organization has been under siege, with various charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy brought against its highest members - most notably founder Keith Raniere, who was convicted in June 2019 and is currently awaiting sentencing. The series takes a deep, nuanced look at the experiences of a number of people deeply involved in NXIVM over the course of several years.

For those who have followed the entire NXIVM saga via the media or the Escaping NXIVM podcast series, this is the documentary that takes it to the next level with an extraordinary level of involvement by some of the main players in the group, couple this with incredible archive footage of the group and its members as well as its “official” media productions.
NXIVM is a truly fascinating phenomena, a sort of C21st Scientology with elements of hardcore BDSM, mind control, Clockwork Orange style deprogramming, sex cult practices,
a smattering of celebrities, media personalities and occasional members of the super rich.
With such a rich cocktail of elements, this is going to be one interesting documentary series.

The thing I don’t understand is, why he won’t be sentenced until next month

This has been such an interesting doc series so far. I cant believe how people can get sucked into this stuff!!! If someone is asking for blackmail material on yourself surely alarm bells would kick in? Crazy. A load of self obsessed people who truly believe they are special, claiming in one breath that they want to better the world? when its purely just about themselves. Full stop. If you want to better the world theres plenty you can do if you are rich especially. I think I even heard one claim they were the best of society all living in one place. I nearly spat my drink out. I love it when people who think they are special for no reason (only because they have cash) show themselves to be the most stupid and naive people that I have ever seen. They are like sheep,I bet all of their political beliefs are aligned(god forbid they think for themselves) If the shit ever hits the fan, it will one day now we are all more connected and the world is getting more dangerous, these types not only help facilitate their own demise but they wont last two minutes. To be that trusting an dumb when an adult is beyond sad. its hilarious and highly entertaining

I think it’s cool. Norm life is sooo fucked up. Just mention the price of over consumption in the world as an example.. animal industry, undisciplined sloppy self indulgent people e.t.c. Keith and his branding is cheesy for sure but WTF.. Any one that want to can leave with some effort if they not to stupid (in witch case they must learn)and I mean how easy is it to get some fairly safe corny action in life.. Really?? Some branding is not a high price and they girls don’t seem to suffer to badly over the wine and their dinners. I’m sure I’m a bad person but it has been proven over and over again that people prefer even pain over boredom. And be honest here.. is it not what this all is about.. boredom of a rich spoiled nation? And some kink to get the little slot wet for a change.. the normal search for some responsible parents instead of a meeting with death and the true loneliness of life in a body.

Denying someone food, sleep, and social contact is not ‘kink.’ Systematically diminishing someone’s capacity to function in the above ways is no different than drugging someone. Consent is not legally possible at that point. It doesn’t matter the socio-economic standing of the victims, this is nothing other than criminally predatory behavior.

I agree.

of course it is, it’s about control, they knew what they were getting into.

Foundational ignorance of consent is the bedrock of rape culture. Which, I’d say, is one of the excellent points made by the documentarians.
