This Man Must Die (French: Que la bête meure), also an excellent French/Italian movie (1969)directed by Claude Chabrol… Hope this series is as good of the movie !

Dodi 3 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

Just discovered Cluade Chabrol and am binging on all his work I can find. Chabrol is an old New Wave director, a style I find I love. Watched the first episode here and am now skipping to https://www.primewire.ag/movie/141185-watch-this-man-must-die for comparison.

The Day-Lewis novel has been adapted for the screen twice peviously. The one you mention https://www.primewire.ag/movie/141185-watch-this-man-must-die (Original title: Que la bête meure) and previous to that in 1952 by Román Viñoly Barreto in Argentina. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0201477/ (La bestia debe morir). In both of those the Cush Jumbo character was male.

Thanks! I’m going to find this Argentinian version that I didn’t know existed!

I have just finished watching the first 3 episodes and I am in hook, line and sinker. I had only seen Cush Jumbo on the Good Wife/Good Fight, where she really doesn’t have the opportunity to show much range. This is a better example of her craft.

TKU. I have the current “Trying” on my watch list as well as the upcoming “Stay Close”. Now adding your suggestions as well as the “Vera” series with wonderful Brenda Blethyn.

Alien 2 points 3 years ago.

I love Vera. I still have three s10 episodes to watch.

Looking forward to this drama and I had watched a few British tv shows with Cush Jumbo before she headed across the pond to star in The Good Wife/The Good Fight. This drama is adapted from a book written by Daniel Day-Lewis’ father in 1938.
