Based on the book ‘Holy land: a suburban memoir’ by D.J. Waldie. Fragments of personal and collective history, from the 50s through the 80s to today suburban America. Through vignettes of everyday life in the first California suburb, Lakewood, this short film is an incomplete portrait of the place and the people who live there. It explores the evolution from intimate to social rituals, the clash between public and private, a place where womanhood and motherly duties come to term with the expectations of society.
